Choosing the right features to include in your network is as important as running the network itself. You probably already have a pretty good idea of what features you might want to include, but heres what weve seen works for other successful networks.

The features that help networks grow the most are the Activity feed, the Members, the Events, and the Start Discussion features. Simply drag features into your layout to include them into your network. You can get to this page as the admin by going to Admin - Customize - Features.

The Start Discussions and Activity Feed widget works together make your network interactive. We recommend placing the activity feed on the main column and the start discussions near the top on the right. The Activity Feed shows all the latest updates in your network including new members, job posts, events, and discussions. The Start Discussions widget allows members to quickly start new topics of discussion, which goes directly into the feed. Other members can comment directly on the feed or click through to the forum topic to comment. Use this powerful combination to drive recurring usage by members on your network.

The Members widget allows you to display your members in a visually appealing way. People love to get a quick visual sense of whos on the network. No one likes talking to an empty room. Use this to show how vibrant your network is and to increase your membership.

If you host events whether virtual or physical, include these in your events widget. You can even add events that youre not hosting but are in your area or related to your profession of interest to your members. Make your network the goto place for the latest happenings.

The right features will help make running your network easy as well as provide value to your professional group.
